How to Choose the Right Pajamas

The origin of pajamas traces back to Southwest Asia, meaning "leg garment."

Originally loose-fitting pants, pajamas evolved over time. In the 1920s, Coco Chanel revolutionized sleepwear, introducing satin robes suitable for both day and night.

Today, an array of styles exists, making the choice overwhelming.

So how to choose?

To spend peaceful nights or simply relax on Sunday morning, there's nothing like a pretty, ultra-comfortable pajamas.

Of course, the definition will be different for everyone.

Putting on your pajamas sends a message to our subconscious: it's time to relax!

Because relaxing is an art and involves selecting an outfit suited to your evening routine.

This blog post guides you through the essential criteria for selecting the pajamas that suit you best.

Fit, materials, style, durability and maintenance: we'll go over everything.

1. Smooth cuts

Feeling comfortable in your skin and sleepwear is crucial, considering you'll spend several hours sleeping in it every night.

Choose a cut that suits your body and the season.

Options range from nightgowns and full-length sets for cooler seasons to short and breezy styles for summer.

Ensure a comfortable fit, avoiding tightness in the shoulders, waist, and legs

Likewise, choose soft, elastic knits over more rigid fabrics for more comfort.

Also think about the way you sleep: for those who sleep on their stomach, avoid buttons and knots on the torso that could bother you.

At Géopélie: Géopélie's jersey-knit pajamas offer a perfect balance between snugness and freedom of movement. Our pajamas have been designed with the softest jersey knit. Our pajamas are neither too tight nor too loose, to ensure comfortable movement while you sleep. For example, the armholes of our kimono are wide enough to leave enough room for your arms and the waist of our pants and pajama shorts are elasticated for optimal comfort. The legs of our pants have the ideal width and are available in two lengths.

2. Breathable materials

Prioritize natural fabrics like cotton, wool, linen, or hemp for breathability.

Géopélie uses recycled cotton and polyester, creating a soft and breathable jersey.

Avoid 100% synthetic materials that hinder skin breathability.

Choose lighter fabrics for summer and slightly heavier ones for winter to regulate temperature effectively.

At Géopélie: since the launch of the brand, we have chosen recycled fabrics to limit our impact on the environment as much as possible. Our pajamas are no exception to this motto and are made from a blend of 50% recycled cotton and 50% recycled polyester. With its high cotton content, our jersey knit is soft and breathable.

3. Reflecting your style

Pajamas come in a myriad of colors, prints, and styles.

Whether you prefer classic, bold, or a mix, find a style that brings joy and won't lose its charm.

Géopélie's new collection allows you to mix and match tops and bottoms, offering a wide range of prints and solids to match your mood.

If elegance holds significant importance for you, opt for pajamas that you wouldn't hesitate to showcase during breakfast with guests or on Christmas morning with the entire family

At Géopélie: Our new collection of pajamas has been designed to give you the choice to put together your outfit as you wish. It's up to you to play between our tops and bottoms, between our superb prints and our plains to find the outfit that perfectly reflects your mood.

4. Seasonal Adaptability

Divide your pajama collection into seasonal categories.

Opt for warmer options like pants, kimonos, and long-sleeve shirts for cooler nights, and shorts, tank tops, and T-shirts for warmer ones.

Géopélie's distinction between mid-season/winter and summer pajamas ensures you have the right attire for every temperature.

At Géopélie: Our pajamas are divided into two categories: mid-season and winter pajamas made up of pants, kimonos and long-sleeved t-shirts for cooler nights and our summer pajamas made up of shorts, tank tops and t-shirt for warmer nights, to match according to your taste and mood.

5. Durable Pajamas

Beautiful and longlasting pajamas are a long-term investment!

Choose natural, slightly thicker fabrics for resilience against wear and tear.

Assess stitching, finishes, and fabric quality during fitting.

At Géopélie: Géopélie pajamas are made with the greatest care in a 260g/m² jersey fabric, striking the perfect balance between durability and comfort. A relatively thick fabric that will stand the test of time and washing, without being too hot in summer. To make your Géopélie pajamas last longer, remember to wash and iron them inside out to prevent the colors from faiding. Washing every 5 to 7 days depending on the heat and your level of perspiration is more than enough to ensure the hygiene of your skin. In addition to being useless, washing too often damages your garments and pollutes our environment.

6. Easy and economical maintenance

Consider the ease of care.

Some materials are more demanding in terms of washing and maintenance.

Cotton is known for its easy upkeep.

If you don't want to worry about caring for your pajamas and spending hours washing clothes by hand, avoid very fragile fabrics like silk, satin, wool or those that require a dry cleaner wash.

Look carefully at the care label before buying your pajamas!

At Géopélie: our recycled jersey-knit pajamas are easy to care for and can be machine-washed at 30°C with a  spin cycle of 800 rpm maximum. To dry them, simply lay them flat on a drying rack. Gentle ironing at a maximum temperature of 100°C is recommanded.

Selecting the right pajamas involves a thoughtful consideration of cut, fabric, style, seasonal appropriateness, durability, and maintenance.

Géopélie's commitment to eco-friendly materials and versatile designs makes their pajamas an excellent choice for those seeking comfort, style, and sustainability in their sleepwear.
